Summary
The Glen Arbor Township Planning Commission met on October 1, 2025, with Chairman Lance Roman presiding. Members Lance Roman, Bill Thompson, Bob Ihme, and Andy Dotterweich were present; Bob Hawley, Dave Burton, and Bob Berlacher were absent. The Commission approved the September 2025 minutes on a motion by Ihme, supported by Dotterweich. Under review of Zoning Ordinance v5.2 items, the Commission finalized a definition for "Accessory Building" and adopted a definition for "Shipping Container." The Commission also discussed Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and FROGS, as well as Solar & Wind ordinance items, but took no action on either, opting to revisit ADUs/FROGS at the December Planning Meeting. There was no correspondence, no Township Board report (Hawley absent), no Zoning Administrator's report (Cypher absent), and Dotterweich reported no Zoning Board of Appeals meetings are currently scheduled.
Action Items
- Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) and FROGS discussion to be revisited at the December Planning Meeting.
- Dotterweich to review ADU/FROGS and Solar/Wind ordinance items after attending the MTA meeting in Frankenmuth.
- The November Planning Meeting was announced as cancelled by Chairman Roman to allow time to review the final Draft of the Master Plan with Zoning Administrator Cypher at the December meeting.
