Infrastructure Projects
Clerk Laureto reported on a meeting she and Treasurer Lewis held with Empire Township representatives regarding Maple Grove Cemetery, where gravel roads are washing out and threatening grave sites and the Columbarium. Because Glen Arbor residents may be buried there at resident rates, the board agreed to contribute 40% of the cost of new asphalt roads. Motion by P. Laureto, supported by J. DePuy, to contribute 40% of the road cost and have the Supervisor send a letter confirming this commitment and reiterating Glen Arbor's desire to be included in discussions of future capital projects before contracts are signed. Motion carried unanimously.
Other Business
The Emergency Services Advisory Commission recommended payment of unpaid checks and payroll. Fire Chief Capt. Dykgraaf reported 45 calls in November, 282 training hours completed, boiler maintenance and winter prep finished, and a new plow installed on the department's new truck. The department is transitioning fire reporting from NFIRS to NERIS effective January 1. The county and all departments will be replacing radios within the year, with model selection still underway. Laureto and Dykgraaf continue covering duties in the Chief's absence. The board reappointed Bill Freeman to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Bill Thompson and Bob Ihme to the Planning Commission, each for 3-year terms effective January 1, 2026, by unanimous roll call votes (aye: Hawley, DePuy, P. Laureto; absent: Lewis, T. Laureto). No Planning Commission report was given due to Hawley's absence from that body.
