Summary
The Glen Arbor Township Planning Commission met on May 1, 2025, with Chairman Lance Roman presiding. The Commission approved the April minutes (motion by Berlacher, supported by Ihme), reviewed Master Plan Chapters 1 and 2 with updated demographics, and discussed several zoning ordinance items without taking formal action. David Burton was absent; Tim Cypher, the Zoning Administrator, was present.

Infrastructure Projects
Township Board liaison Bob Hawley reported that a new QR code is being installed at the Boat Ramp, and repaving of the parking lot is underway. The County Road Commission had previously presented new equipment to the Township Board that aided snow removal efforts last winter.
Other Business
- Correspondence was received from the County noting it is reworking its Master Plan.
- Hawley reported a Memorial Day event will be held at the Cemetery on May 23 at 10 AM, and that responsibility for the Fourth of July Parade has shifted to the Township.
- Zoning Administrator Cypher reported permits issued for two single-family dwellings, several accessory buildings, and one commercial structure; 35 phone calls and 39 emails were handled, and 8 construction site inspections were completed.
- Dotterweich reported no Zoning Board of Appeals meetings are currently scheduled.
- The Commission reviewed Zoning Ordinance v5.2 items, including accessory building size limitations and shipping container use (size and permanency); no formal action was taken on either.
- A punch list of future ordinance topics was set, including Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and FROGS, and solar and wind regulations, to be addressed at upcoming meetings.
Financial Summary
Zoning Administrator Cypher reported that $640 in fees were collected during the reporting period from permits issued.
Action Items
- Chairman Roman will edit the Accessory Buildings ordinance language to incorporate additions and corrections made by Commission members.
- Chairman Roman will add Commission suggestions regarding Shipping Container Use regulations.
- Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and FROGS, and solar and wind ordinance items, will be discussed at upcoming Planning meetings.
