Summary

Parks and Recreation Matters
The Board confirmed the Memorial Day event will continue, to be held Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the GA Cemetery, 6305 Forest Haven Drive. The Board thanked volunteers Terri Myers, Diane Calsbeek, and Linda Dewey for their work. Clerk Laureto reported the ADA-accessible threshold and locking mechanism at the front doors are now fully functional, and that Eclipse completed work syncing park cameras with the Township server, though one camera was found nonfunctional and will be replaced at no charge by the installer.
Infrastructure Projects
Clerk Laureto reported that Honor Bank is transitioning to a new vendor, 1st National Payment, a local firm with over 700 Traverse City-area clients, to handle QR Code payments at the boat ramp; this service will cost less than the previous national vendor. Motion by B. Hawley, support D. Lewis, to approve moving forward with 1st National Payment; motion carried unanimously. Supervisor Laureto reported he is still working with American Tower on an unresolved payment issue and received communication that they are addressing it.
Other Business
Due to lack of Sheriff's coverage for road closures, the Board discussed the 4th of July Parade and Running Bear Run with Brendan Mullane, who said the Road Commission may be able to offer support; the Clerk will follow up with Mullane and contact the National Park Service for possible assistance. Fire Chief Ferguson reported 54 calls in March, a structure fire in Empire with no damage to adjacent homes, the old engine's departure for Chili, upcoming boat electronics installation, attendance at the FDIC International Conference, and resolution of minor OSHA violations. Trustee Hawley reported the Planning Commission continues work on Accessory Buildings and Accessory Dwellings, though he did not attend the last meeting.

Treasurer's cash on hand as of 3/31/25: General Fund $1,134,504.34; Emergency Services Fund $3,733,291.20; GLFD Debt Service Fund $109,858.29; Park Debt Service Fund $1,488.21; Fisher Lake SAD Fund $49,654.37; Tax Collection Fund $11,160.40. General Fund bills (3/31–4/15/25) totaled $22,212.45, with March payroll of $22,544.48; both approved unanimously (motion DePuy, support Lewis). Emergency Services bills (3/12–4/8/25) totaled $149,870.15, with March payroll of $131,368.76; approved unanimously (motion DePuy, support Hawley).
