Summary
The Leelanau Township Facilities Manager, Ian Dawkins, presented a routine facilities status report on May 13, 2025 covering maintenance and seasonal preparations across township properties, parks, cemeteries and the airport. Parks and Recreation Matters
At Braman Park, skate park equipment was set up and a warning sign installed; a damaged pay phone was removed from the warming hut. At Buster Dame Park, water service is pending until the Village completes fire hydrant flushing. At Christmas Cove, the gate was opened for vehicle access to the lower parking area and trash pickup service resumed. At Omena Beach, staff are coordinating with the State of Michigan to begin weekly E. coli water testing for the summer season, with a sign to be updated weekly based on results; trash service also resumed. At Peterson Park, the historical marker base was installed and trash service resumed.
Other Business
- Airport: Water service at the Terminal building was turned on; repair of the keypad to the Terminal building is in process.
- Cemeteries: Water was turned on at both cemeteries, cleanup is underway ahead of Memorial Day, and annual and perennial flowers were planted at the Northport Cemetery sign.
- Township Hall: Staff are replacing bathroom exhaust fans (current fans date to 1973 and one has failed) and coordinating with a door company to replace door closers installed in April 2023, one of which has failed.
- General: Thanks were extended to the Lions Club for assisting with maintenance of the recycling center; staff expressed hope for good weather for the upcoming Memorial Day event.

- Complete repair of the Terminal building keypad at the Airport.
- Turn on water at Buster Dame Park once the Village finishes flushing fire hydrants.
- Continue cemetery cleanup in preparation for Memorial Day.
