Public Hearing and Regular Meeting (Minutes)

The Empire Village Council held a budget hearing on February 25, 2025, at the Empire Township Hall. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with a quorum present. Public hearings regarding water rates and the FY 2025-26 budget received no comments. The agenda was amended to include Tree Service Quotes and a MI Par Plan Grant Application under New Business, and a motion for Health Insurance under Old Business, which was approved.

The Consent Agenda, including minutes, bills, and resolutions, was approved. Financial statements were reviewed. Under Old Business, the Council approved 100% Health Insurance Coverage for full-time employees and their plus one. New Business included the approval of several resolutions: FY 24/25 budget amendments, water rates, and the FY 2025-26 budget adoption.

The Council approved changes to the 2025-26 Fee Schedule, specifically to Beach Fees, pending an attorney opinion. The Council reappointed Planning Commissioners and appointed a Zoning Board of Appeals member. A quote from Deerings Tree Service, not to exceed $5000.00, was approved. The Council also approved a resolution for a MI Par Plan Grant Application.

Public comment was given by Sam Barr and Cheryl Clark, and no Council Member comments were made. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. These minutes were approved at the March 25, 2025, Council Regular Meeting.
