Regular meeting (Minutes)

The Charter Township of Elmwood held its regular board meeting on January 8, 2024, at the Township Hall, with Supervisor Shaw calling the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. All board members were present, and there were no conflicts of interest or public comments. The consent calendar, which included various department and committee reports, minutes, and invoices, was unanimously approved. The agenda was also approved with the modification of deleting the Discovery Pier update. Supervisor Shaw reported on a pre-construction meeting with Basch, indicating readiness to start the project. Trustee Trevas inquired about the status of an MDOT project, to which Supervisor Shaw confirmed that the project, funded by a $20 million grant for an $18 million roundabout, is on track.

In the new business section, Patrick McGow from Miller Canfield discussed a bond authorizing resolution. The resolution, initially set at $6 million for three combined projects, can be adjusted after project bids are received. McGow explained that the bonds would be sold through competitive bidding, with the lowest bidder being awarded the contract. The board can spend money now and reimburse it once bond proceeds are received, with a year to sell the bonds after Treasury approval and a ten-year payoff period. The resolution was unanimously adopted. Additionally, a budget amendment was passed to transfer $30,000 from the ARPA fund to the fire fund for a new ambulance chassis.

Clerk Preston reported that absentee ballot applications had been mailed. The board also approved the payment of invoices totaling $76,712.22. There were no further public comments, and the meeting was adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
