Regular Meeting (Minutes)

The Kasson Township Board convened its regular meeting on March 12, 2025. The meeting addressed several key issues and ongoing projects. Brian Withers, a local resident, raised concerns regarding the Road Commission garage in Maple City, citing noise disturbances and a desire for the garage to adhere to township standards. The board approved the agenda, the February meeting minutes, and financial reports, including budget amendments.

Significant discussion revolved around unfinished business, including cemetery matters, sidewalk and parking ordinances (with a recommendation to incorporate MDOT specifications), and road projects in Maple City. The Fire Station design is progressing, with the interior design phase underway. The board is also exploring options to change the Landfill Fees agreement with Waste Management to a per-ton basis. A Complete Outdoor quote for various services was approved, and the Interlocal Agreement for Cedar Area Fire & Rescue will be sent for legal review.

New business included the approval of a Complete Outdoor quote for groundskeeping services and a decision to send the Interlocal Agreement to legal counsel for review. Reports from the Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator, Supervisor, Assessor, Fire Board, and Clerk/Elections were received, highlighting ongoing activities and upcoming events. Committee reports on hall use and buildings/grounds were also presented.

The meeting concluded with public and board comments. J. Carter and T. Carter commented on the Road Commission building. Noonan echoed the concerns about the Road Commission garage and reminded the public about safety as the weather improves. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2025.
