Regular Meeting (Minutes)

The Kasson Township Board convened its regular meeting on February 12, 2025, with Supervisor Julian presiding. Key topics included road projects, financial reports, unfinished business, new business, and various reports from township officials.

A presentation was given by Craig Brown of the Leelanau County Road Commission, detailing road projects planned for 2025, including crack sealing and chip sealing on several roads. The township will fund the undersealing of a portion of Valley Road. Discussions also covered the potential for future projects on Maple City Road/Burdickville Road, and Fritz Road, along with possible changes to Mill Street and the Kasson Center Road/Newman Road intersection.

Financial reports, including the Treasurer’s Report, Budget Report, and bill approvals were presented and approved. Under New Business, the board addressed salary resolutions for township officials. Trustee pay was increased to $150 per meeting, while resolutions to maintain the Clerk, Treasurer and Supervisor salaries were approved. Christopher Logan was appointed as the Board of Review alternate.

Reports from various entities, including the Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator, Supervisor, Assessor, Fire Board, and Clerk/Elections were provided. Public comments and board discussions followed, covering topics such as Consumer’s utility line upgrades on Tower Road, the status of snowmobile trails, and the upcoming annual meeting and the paint job at the hall.
