Special Session (Packet)

The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a Special Session on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., to be held in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room at the Leelanau County Government Center in Suttons Bay, Michigan. The purpose of this meeting is to conduct dialogues with candidates for the position of County Administrator. The session will begin with a call to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence or private prayer, and a roll call. Public comment will be accepted, limited to three minutes per speaker and focused on agenda-specific topics. Commissioners will also have the opportunity to provide comments.

The meeting agenda includes interviews with seven candidates for the County Administrator position, scheduled throughout the day on November 18th and continuing into November 19th. The candidates are Matthew Marske at 9:30 a.m., Eric Ceci at 10:30 a.m., Mark Brown at 11:30 a.m., James Kiessel at 12:30 p.m., followed by a recess. The session will reconvene on Tuesday, November 19th at 9:00 a.m., with interviews continuing with Kipling Belcher at 9:15 a.m., Jeffrey Thornton at 10:15 a.m., and James Dyer at 11:15 a.m. After the interviews, there will be a five-minute public comment period and additional commissioner comments before the meeting is adjourned.

The proceedings of the meeting will be recorded, though the formally approved written minutes will serve as the official record. The meeting will be live-streamed for public viewing.
