Special Session Leland Dam Walkway Project (Minutes)

Executive Summary:

Leelanau County Board of Commissioners Special Session

– The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ty Wessell on October 15, 2024.
– The main agenda item was the Leland Dam Walkway and Railing Project.
– Interim Administrator Lewis presented three options for the project:
1. Accept the low base bid from Easling Construction using Ipe, a South American product.
2. Accept the low Alternative #1 bid from Fisher Contracting using Thermally Modified Ash, a North American sustainable product.
3. Reject the bids and rebid the project allowing a combination of Ipe, Thermally Modified Ash, or other desired wood products.
– After discussion, the Board voted 4-2 to accept the bid from Easling Construction for the Ipe product at $108,646.00.
– The funds will be transferred from the General Fund Contingency to Fund #805.
