Township Board: Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 5:30pm (MINUTES)

Executive Summary:

I. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
The Leelanau Township Board meeting was called to order by Mike McMillan at 5:31 p.m. All board members were present, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

II. Public Comment
Seven negative comments were made regarding the tower construction site on Kitchen Road, and one comment was made regarding following the proper tax process.

III. General Business
A. The minutes of the March 12, 2024, Regular Board Meeting were approved as presented.
B. The board approved the bills in the amount of $115,072.78, with the amendment that all employees are eligible.

IV. Reports
The board received reports from the Leelanau County Commissioners, NLTUA, Emergency Services, Leelanau County Sheriff, Facilities Manager, and the Clerk.

V. Discussion
The board discussed various topics, including the “218” (Social Security) options, the Board of Review summary and recommendations, policy and procedure updates, budget corrections, eliminating or suspending the tax administration fee and police services fee, and an easement request for a property at 104 E Second St.

VI. Action
The board took the following actions:
A. Approved the automatic renewal of the RLI insurance bond.
B. Approved the auto-renewal of the Group Life & Disability Insurance Bond at no premium increase.
C. Approved the purchase of a Kubota tractor for facilities usage in the amount of $68,995 plus $240.00 for all needed filters.
D. Approved the agreement between NLTUA and Leelanau Township for a deputy treasurer position effective 4-9-2024 in the amount of $7635.50 annually.
