Regular meeting (Minutes)

The Centerville Township Board meeting on March 13, 2024, addressed several key issues and updates. The meeting began with the approval of the agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by a financial update from the Treasurer, Katrina Pleva, who reported the completion of tax collection and plans to review CDARs for better returns. The board also approved the Treasurer’s report and the payment of invoices, with a noted correction for an overpayment to be adjusted in the next month’s payment. The Clerk, Elizabeth Chiles, discussed the need to increase election worker pay and the issues with the current Zoom setup, proposing an upgrade and training for $550. Additionally, the need for a township credit card was raised, with Chiles and Pleva tasked to look into it.

The Zoning Administrator had no report, but Joe Mosher updated the board on the Planning Commission’s progress with the zoning ordinance, noting good public engagement and upcoming special meetings. The commission is working towards completing the ordinance review by June 30. The Cedar Area Fire and Rescue Board’s budget was reported to be under budget, and John DePuy was reappointed as Member-at-Large. Supervisor Ronald Schaub discussed the Open Space Preservation Program and proposed budget amendments, which were approved. The board also reviewed the annual meeting schedule and adjusted the meeting times.

New business included updates on ARPA funds, with plans to upgrade the furnace and rebuild handicap ramps, and a discussion on renewing the Fire millage at 2.25, which was tabled for further analysis. The Heritage Trail Section 9 was discussed, noting it is privately funded and outside the board’s jurisdiction. Commissioner Kama Ross provided updates on county initiatives, including a scrap tire and mattress collection, and upcoming meetings on solar energy and road construction.
