Executive Summary:

Section 1: Call to Order and Roll Call
The Leelanau Township Planning Commission held its regular meeting on January 25, 2024. The meeting was delayed due to a previous Township Board meeting, and a quorum was established with members present.

Section 2: Approval of Agenda
The agenda was approved with two additional items added – a discussion of renewable energy legislation implications and a recommendation to the Township to consolidate the zoning ordinance.

Section 3-4: Conflict of Interest and Announcements
No conflicts of interest were reported, and the Zoning Administrator distributed an article on farming for the Master Plan.

Section 5: Public Comment
Residents raised concerns about the proposed Shoreline Residential District and the limited content on the Planning Commission’s website.

Section 6: Discussion/Action Items
A. The Planning Commission reviewed and discussed the draft Master Plan update, making edits to the Summary, Mission Statement, Goals and Objectives.
B. The Planning Commission Annual Report for 2023 was approved with minor amendments.
C. The November 8, 2023 meeting minutes were approved as amended.
D. The Planning Commission noted the Township’s review of the renewable energy legislation.
E. The Planning Commission recommended the Township consolidate and codify the zoning ordinance.

Section 7: Additional Public Comment
Residents continued to express concerns about the Master Plan and zoning issues.

Section 9-11: Next Meeting and Adjournment
The next meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2024 to continue the Master Plan discussion. The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
